UPSC Shortlists 85 Candidates for CBI Assistant Programmer Posts

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has shortlisted 85 candidates for 27 Assistant Programmer posts within the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Eight candidates were rejected from consideration for these positions.

UPSC rejected the eight candidates due to specific document non-submission. One candidate failed to submit a community certificate under general criteria. Four candidates did not provide required documents. Three additional candidates failed to submit mandatory certificates specific to the Assistant Programmer post.

These Assistant Programmer positions fall under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The DoPT operates within the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

The selection process included specific operational guidelines. OBC candidates are considered eligible pending an undertaking, which UPSC will collect during interviews. A birth certificate is not accepted as valid proof of date of birth. The Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate remains valid for the 2024-25 financial year.

UPSC also clarified relevant academic qualifications. Degrees in Information Technology, Information Security, and Theoretical Computer Science are considered appropriate for the Assistant Programmer role. This aligns with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) gazette notification on relevant fields.
