SSC GD Constable 2025 Cut-offs Drop: Female Scores Decline 11 Marks

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the General Duty (GD) Constable 2025 final results, revealing a substantial drop in cut-off scores across all categories. Female candidates saw cut-offs decrease by approximately 11 marks, while male candidates experienced a decline of over 12 marks in the Unreserved category. This downward trend in required scores occurred despite a notable increase in overall candidate participation compared to 2024.

Female Candidates See Major Cut-off Reduction

Cut-off scores for female candidates securing All-India SSF vacancies dropped significantly in 2025. The Unreserved (UR) category cut-off fell from 154.45598 in 2024 to 143.75341 in 2025, a reduction of 10.70257 marks . For the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, the cut-off decreased from 152.82912 in 2024 to 142.71019 in 2025, showing a reduction of approximately 10.11893 marks .

Overall, female candidate cut-offs declined by 10 to 11 marks across various reported categories. This trend indicates that candidates needed lower scores to qualify in 2025 compared to the previous year.

Male Candidate Cut-offs Also Decline

Unreserved (UR) male candidates for All-India SSF vacancies also saw a substantial cut-off reduction. The score dropped to 147.47214 in 2025 from 159.61592 in 2024. This represents a decrease of over 12.14378 marks .

Reasons for Cut-off Decrease

The decrease in SSC GD Constable 2025 cut-offs for both male and female candidates points to several contributing factors. The examination administered in 2025 may have been more challenging than the 2024 version, leading to lower average scores among test-takers. Additionally, the normalization process, which adjusts scores for varying difficulty levels across different exam shifts, could have impacted the overall score distribution.

The total number of available vacancies also influences cut-off scores. The 2025 recruitment drive aimed to fill 53,690 posts , including 48,320 for male candidates. In contrast, the 2024 drive offered 46,617 vacancies , with 41,467 designated for male and 5,150 for female candidates. An increase in vacancies could lead to lower cut-offs if candidate performance remains constant or declines.

Overall Candidate Participation Increased

The 2025 recruitment cycle saw increased participation compared to 2024. A total of 3,94,121 candidates were initially shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). Following these stages, 126,736 candidates successfully qualified for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification (DV).

In comparison, 3,51,176 candidates were shortlisted for PET/PST in 2024. This marks an increase of 42,945 candidates , representing a 12.2% rise in overall participation for the initial physical tests. Among female candidates specifically, 40,213 were shortlisted in 2025, up from 39,440 in 2024. The number of female candidates who qualified PET/PST reached 13,073 this year, a significant jump from 4,818 in 2024, showing 8,255 more female candidates advancing to the next stage.
